<![CDATA[Background: The incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) continues to rise, including among adolescents. In Bandung City, 41,413 cases were reported in 2023, with a notably high number (770 cases) at Cipadung Public Health Center. Adolescents are at risk of type 2 DM due to unhealthy lifestyles and limited knowledge. Therefore, educational media that is engaging and suitable for adolescents is needed. Objective: To develop a flipchart media titled “REMADIS” as an educational tool to improve adolescents’ knowledge about DM prevention. Method: This was a research and development study using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), conducted at MAN 2 Bandung in March - April. The population included all members of the Youth Red Cross, with a total sample of 30 students selected using total sampling. Effectiveness was assessed using a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group. Instruments included interview guidelines, media and knowledge questionnaires. Data were collected through both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Result: In the Define stage, adolescents were found to need interactive and attractive educational media. The Design stage produced the “REMADIS” flipchart containing DM prevention material. During the Development stage, feasibility scores were 91% (material expert), 100% (media expert), and 90% (target users). Effectiveness testing showed an increase in average knowledge from 80.33 to 90.23, with a p-value of 0.035 (Wilcoxon test). The media was then disseminated via social media and received positive feedback. Conclusions: The “REMADIS” flipchart media is effective as an educational tool to improve adolescents’ knowledge in the prevention of diabetes mellitus.]]>
