Latar belakang: Jumlah lansia di Indonesia meningkat setiap tahun. Risiko penyakit degeneratif seperti osteoartritis ikut bertambah. The risk of degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis also rises. Osteoarthritis causes balance disorders that can increase the risk of falls in the elderly. One of the non-pharmacological interventions is Core Stability Exercise and Tandem Gait Exercise, which serve as simple balance training for the elderly. This study aimed to determine whether there is an effect of the combination therapy of Core Stability Exercise and Tandem Gait Exercise on dynamic balance in elderly patients with osteoarthritis in the working area of Lingkar Barat Community Health Center, Bengkulu City. Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, employing a pre-test and post-test with a control group approach. The sampling technique was Simple Random Sampling with a total of 36 elderly participants, divided into two groups. The intervention group was provided with Core Stability Exercise combined with Tandem Gait Exercise, while the control group was provided with the Four Square Stepping Exercise. Results: There was an increase of 10.28 points in the dynamic balance score in the intervention group and 8.6 points in the control group. The Mann-Whitney statistical test showed a p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: The combination therapy of Core Stability Exercise and Tandem Gait Exercise has a significant effect on improving dynamic balance in elderly patients with osteoarthritis. This therapy is more effective than the Four Square Stepping Exercise and can be an alternative non-pharmacological intervention to improve dynamic balance in the elderly.
