Reinterpretasi Konsep Mesias dalam Korpus Perjanjian Baru: Dari Harapan Mesianik Politis-Apokaliptik Menuju Penggenapan dalam Yesus

This paper examines the view of the Messiah in the New Testament. It focuses on the portrayal of the Messiah throughout the canon. The analysis covers the Gospels, Acts, Paul’s epistles, the general epistles, and Revelation. The main focus of this research is to explore how the concept of the Messiah was understood, interpreted, and proclaimed by the early Christian community in light of the theological heritage of the first century Jews. This research uses a qualitative approach with a bibliographic study method, analyzing biblical texts and related scholarly sources. The findings show that the figure of the Messiah in the New Testament underwent a reinterpretation of the Messiah concept from political and apocalyptic hope to spiritual fulfillment in the person of Jesus Christ. Each part of the New Testament places its own emphasis on the messiahship of Jesus, whether as the Son of God, High Priest, King in the heavenly kingdom, or as the fulfillment of the prophecies of earlier prophets. This overall understanding forms a solid theological basis for the faith and identity of the early church and affirms the hope for eternal Messianic reign.   Tulisan ini menelaah pandangan tentang Mesias dalam Perjanjian Baru. Fokusnya adalah pada penggambaran Mesias di seluruh kanon. Analisis mencakup Injil, Kisah Para Rasul, surat-surat Paulus, surat-surat umum, dan Kitab Wahyu. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah menelusuri bagaimana konsep Mesias dipahami, ditafsirkan, dan diwartakan oleh komunitas Kristen mula-mula dalam terang warisan teologi Yahudi abad pertama. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi pustaka, menganalisis teks-teks Alkitab dan sumber ilmiah terkait. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa figur Mesias dalam Perjanjian Baru mengalami transformasi makna dari harapan politis dan apokaliptik menjadi penggenapan rohani dalam pribadi Yesus Kristus. Setiap bagian kitab Perjanjian Baru memberikan aksen tersendiri mengenai kemesiasan Yesus, baik sebagai Anak Allah, Imam Besar, Raja dalam kerajaan surgawi, maupun sebagai penggenap nubuatan nabi-nabi terdahulu. Keseluruhan pemahaman ini membentuk dasar teologis yang kokoh bagi iman dan identitas gereja mula-mula serta menegaskan pengharapan akan pemerintahan Mesianik yang kekal.
