Abstract

Typhoid Fever is an acute infectious disease that can affect children, with typical symptoms such as high fever (hyperthermia). One of the nursing interventions to reduce body temperature is the application of Tepid Water Sponge. This study aims to apply the technique to two pediatric patients with hyperthermia due to Typhoid Fever. The method used is a case study with a nursing care process including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The first patient, An “N”, showed a temperature of 38.5°C, pulse 90x/min, and breathing 26x/min, while the second patient, An “A”, had a temperature of 39°C, pulse 95x/min, and breathing 24x/min. The intervention focused on managing hyperthermia through Tepid Water Sponge. As a result, An “A” experienced a faster temperature reduction to 36°C because she was cooperative, while An “N” experienced a slower temperature reduction due to lack of cooperation and difficulty taking medication. In conclusion, Tepid Water Sponge is effective in reducing body temperature, but the success of the intervention depends on the cooperation between the nurse, patient, and family. It is hoped that families can apply this technique to help overcome hyperthermia in children.
