Abstract

Food security is a current key focus of the Indonesian government. Furthermore, the current Indonesian curriculum encourages deep learning to enable students to connect scientific concepts with real-world practice. Fish farming using biofloc techniques is one of aquaculture concepts which can be applied in biology deep learning. This Community Service activity was conducted to train biofloc technique fish farming to biology teachers at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) in East Java. The activity included preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In preparation period, materials, instruments, and biofloc installations were prepared. Implementation included elaboration of materials accompanied by practice in installing biofloc in school. Finally, evaluation was conducted to assess the effectiveness and response of participants. The activity was conducted at MA Negeri 2 Lamongan, attended by 80 participants from MGMP MA Biology East Java. The activity then followed with assignments for participants to develop an integration of the biofloc concept with academic or extracurricular activities. The results achieved were an increase in participant understanding, indicated by a 17% increase in post-test scores compared to the pre-test, and a participant response to the activity of 4.56±0.12, which is classified as very good. Thus, it can be concluded that the PKM activity was carried out smoothly.
