This study aims to describe the application of the deep learning approach in improving the descriptive essay writing skills of third-grade students of SDN 15 Banda Aceh. The deep learning approach emphasizes meaningful learning through the process of understanding, analyzing, and students' learning experiences in depth, so that it can help student express ideas and thoughts into descriptive writing more clearly and coherently. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of the study were third-grade students of SDN Banda Aceh, while the object of the study was the application of the deep learning approach in writing descriptive essays. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the application of the deep learning approach can improve students' descriptive essay writing skills. Students are able to understand the objects to be described better, use more varied vocabulary, and compose coherent and clear sentences. Thus, the deep learning approach can be presented as an effective learning alternative to improve descriptive essay writing skills in elementary school students.
