The transition from adolescence to early adulthood in college students is often accompanied by drastic lifestyle changes, including decreased physical activity and unhealthy eating patterns. This has triggered a surge in obesity rates among urban college students, including in Makassar. This study aims to analyze sports participation behavior and obesity triggers, as well as their impact on the physical fitness levels of college students in Makassar. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with a survey design. The sample consisted of 30 college students aged 18-24 years with obesity status (BMI ≥ 27.0) studying at various universities in Makassar selected through purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a Likert scale questionnaire to measure sports participation behavior and obesity triggers, as well as the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI). The results of the study show: (1) The main triggers for obesity are dominated by sedentary behavior due to the burden of academic work and the habit of hanging out (52%) and high-calorie diet (48%), (2) Sports participation behavior is in the "Very Low" (58%) and "Low" (30%) categories, (3) Impacts the level of physical fitness, the majority of which is in the "Very Poor" (65%) category. The conclusion of this study is that a student lifestyle with minimal movement and high calorie intake triggers obesity which directly impacts the level of physical fitness.
