Abstract

The elementary school period is a crucial phase in the development of children's emotional regulation, which directly influences learning readiness, social interaction, and long-term mental health. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the RimbaRia multisensory game in improving elementary school students' emotional regulation skills. The study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest pre-experimental design. The subjects consisted of 35 first-grade students at MI Sunan Giri, Malang Regency. The emotional regulation measurement instrumen used the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) adapted into Indonesian. The treatment, a series of RimbaRia games, was given in structured learning activities. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the average emotional regulation score from the pre-test (M = 39.0) to the post-test (M = 46.6). The statistical test showed a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05), indicating that the RimbaRia game is effective in improving elementary school children's emotional regulation skills. These findings confirm that a multisensory play-based approach can be a fun, structured, and relevant alternative social-emotional intervention in elementary education contexts. Abstrak Periode sekolah dasar merupakan masa yang tepat untuk pengembangan kemampuan regulasi emosi. Kemampuan ini penting untuk menunjang kesiapan belajar, kesiapan membangun interaksi sosial, dan kesehatan psikologis jangka Panjang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas permainan multisensory RimbaRia dalam meningkatkan kemampuan regulasi emosi siswa usia sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra-eksperimen one group pretest–posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 35 siswa kelas I di MI Sunan Giri, Kabupaten Malang. Instrumen pengukuran regulasi emosi menggunakan Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) yang telah diadaptasi ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Perlakuan berupa rangkaian permainan RimbaRia diberikan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran terstruktur. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata skor regulasi emosi dari pre-test (M = 39,0) ke post-test (M = 46,6). Uji statistik menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik (p < 0,05), yang mengindikasikan bahwa permainan RimbaRia efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan regulasi emosi anak usia sekolah dasar. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan berbasis permainan multisensori dapat menjadi alternatif intervensi sosial-emosional yang menyenangkan, terstruktur, dan relevan dalam konteks pendidikan dasar.
