<![CDATA[Reading is a crucial basic skill for students to master, as it lays the foundation for future abilities. Improving students' reading skills is inextricably linked to their interest in learning. Students with a strong interest in learning can contribute to a better learning process. This research was motivated by several issues at Elementary School 16 Bucinri, Pangkep Regency, particularly in fifth grade. Based on these issues, it was discovered that fifth-grade students' initial reading skills were relatively low. Given the grade level, fifth grade is already an advanced class, where students should already possess strong reading skills. This is reflected in the learning outcomes.This study was a quantitative quasi-experimental study. It was conducted at Elementary School 16 Bucinri, Pangkep Regency. The subjects were 20 fifth-grade students. This study aimed to determine the effect of the synthetic phonics method on improving fifth-grade students' reading skills at Elementary School 16 Bucinri, Pangkep Regency. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it shows that the synthetic phonics method has an influence as the hypothesis test calculated using SPSS 29, showing a sig value of 0.001 <0.05, so H0 is rejected, H1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the synthetic phonics method in improving reading ability.Keywords:]]>
