This community service initiative focuses on improving public legal literacy concerning the prohibition on keeping invasive aquatic species, specifically in Sawojajar, Malang City, following a well-publicized criminal case involving a resident who unknowingly kept an alligator gar. Lack of legal awareness regarding environmental regulations and the criminal implications of ignorance highlights the urgent need for educational interventions. The program adopts a transformative legal education approach (Ius Transeducativum), positioning law not merely as a punitive instrument but as a preventive and empowering mechanism for society. The method used included direct legal counseling, participatory discussion, distribution of simplified legal information materials, and community-based empowerment through collaboration with neighborhood leaders (RT/RW) and local authorities. The results demonstrate a significant increase in legal awareness, evidenced by active community engagement, improved understanding of governing regulations, and strengthened commitment from local leaders to continue dissemination of legal information. This initiative provides practical evidence that preventive and humanistic legal education can enhance compliance, reduce risk of unintentional violations, and support the realization of substantive justice at the grassroots level. Abstrak Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi hukum warga terkait larangan pemeliharaan spesies ikan invasif di Kelurahan Sawojajar, Kota Malang, menyusul kasus pemidanaan warga akibat ketidaktahuan atas larangan memelihara ikan aligator gar. Rendahnya pemahaman masyarakat mengenai regulasi lingkungan dan implikasi pidana dari ketidaktahuan hukum menunjukkan perlunya pendekatan edukatif yang komprehensif. Kegiatan ini menerapkan pendekatan Ius Transeducativum, yaitu paradigma pendidikan hukum transformatif yang menempatkan hukum sebagai sarana preventif dan pemberdayaan, bukan semata instrumen represif. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyuluhan hukum secara tatap muka, dialog partisipatif, pembagian materi hukum populer, serta pelibatan perangkat kelurahan dan ketua RT/RW sebagai agen literasi hukum komunitas. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan kesadaran hukum warga, tercermin dari antusiasme peserta, keaktifan dalam diskusi, serta komitmen tokoh masyarakat untuk melanjutkan edukasi hukum secara mandiri. Program ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan edukatif-preventif mampu meminimalkan potensi pelanggaran hukum akibat ketidaktahuan dan mendukung terwujudnya keadilan substantif di tingkat akar rumput.
