<![CDATA[The normative-theological approach is one of the methods frequently used in Islamic studies, particularly in understanding Islamic teachings based on primary sources, namely the Qur’an and Hadith. This approach views Islam as a system of values and norms that are absolute and serve as a guide in religious life. In the context of contemporary Islamic studies, which are increasingly influenced by empirical, historical, and social approaches, the existence of the normative-theological approach is often positioned marginally because it is considered less objective and unscientific. The purpose of writing this article is to analyze the role of the theological normative approach as a foundation of academic ethics in the methodology of contemporary Islamic Studies. This approach provides a normative basis for maintaining academic integrity so that Islamic Studies do not diverge from the transcendental values that characterize it.
