Disaster-prone areas are areas where disasters can occur, so strengthening and preparing communities to be ready to face potential disasters is crucial. The impacts of potential disasters can include physical and psychological problems and can affect all aspects of life. Disasters are divided into three phases: pre-disaster, disaster, and post-disaster. Psychological impacts are rarely addressed in the pre-disaster phase, so strengthening the prevention of mental health problems is crucial, especially in young adults, as this is a prime time for productivity. Young adulthood should not be a failure or a suboptimal stage, especially when a disaster strikes. The purpose of this policy brief is to provide a summary of the synergy between the central and regional governments and disaster-prone areas in preventing mental health problems, especially in young adults. This policy brief also discusses regulations related to mental health and disaster management as well as relevant policy recommendations.
