Abstract

Social inequality remains a structural issue in Indonesia’s economic development process. Although economic growth has shown positive trends over the past two decades, structural transformation from the agricultural sector to industry and services has not been fully accompanied by equitable income distribution and access to economic resources. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of social inequality in the context of economic growth and national structural transformation. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using secondary data obtained from official statistical publications. The variables analyzed include gross domestic product growth, sectoral contributions, unemployment rates, and the Gini ratio. The findings indicate that rapid structural transformation does not necessarily reduce social inequality. Inequality tends to increase when economic growth is not inclusive and is dominated by sectors with limited access for low-income groups. These results highlight the importance of inclusive and equitable development policies to ensure sustainable economic progress.
