This study aims to describe the forms, functions, and meanings of personification in Sukarni’s poetry collection. Poetry, as a literary work, has the power to convey ideas, emotions, and inner experiences through condensed and aesthetic language. In this context, personification becomes one of the dominant figures of speech used to animate inanimate objects, abstract concepts, and natural phenomena, making them appear as if they possess human characteristics and behaviors. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data sources consisting of eight poems by Sukarni, namely Arti Kehidupan, Bonekaku, Malam, Pantai, Sampah, Senja, Sebuah Harapan, and Waktu. Data were collected using observation and note-taking techniques, involving reading, identifying, recording, classifying, and systematically analyzing relevant data.The findings reveal 48 instances of personification distributed across all poems, showing diverse forms of usage. Personification is applied by attributing human traits, actions, and emotions to non-human entities. Functionally, this figure of speech enhances aesthetic effects, strengthens imagination, and creates a more vivid and expressive atmosphere. In terms of meaning, personification in Sukarni’s poems conveys emotional messages, reflections on life, and deep philosophical values, such as awareness of time, the relationship between humans and nature, and the poet’s inner experiences. Therefore, personification serves not merely as decorative language but as a significant medium for expressing complex meanings and reinforcing the expressive power of poetry
