Background: English speaking skills are an important competency for health students, but many students still experience difficulties due to lack of practice and self-confidence. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of the storytelling method on the English speaking skills of students of the Physiotherapy Department of the Ministry of Health Polytechnic of Surakarta. Methods: The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 149 students with a total sampling technique. The research instruments were speaking tests and observation sheets. Data analysis used a paired sample t-test. Results: The results showed an increase in the average score from 62.45 to 78.12 with a difference of 15.67 points and a significance value of p <0.001. Conclusion: The storytelling method has been proven to have a significant effect in improving students' English speaking skills. Keywords: Storytelling, Speaking Skills, English, EFL Learning.
