Abstract

Marital conflict remains a significant and widespread challenge among couples in Kwara State, often resulting in emotional distress, family instability, and declining mental well-being. The primary objective of this community engagement initiative was to equip married adult husbands with practical skills in applying the principles of Choice Theory to manage marital conflict in a healthy and constructive manner. This initiative employed a conceptual-analytical research approach focusing on the application of Choice Theory within the context of marital conflict management in Kwara State. The target subjects were married adult couples who may experience conflict in their marital relationships. Data were obtained through a comprehensive literature review, contextual analysis, and expert perspectives relevant to the implementation of Choice Theory. The data were subsequently analyzed using thematic qualitative analysis. The initiative emphasizes the potential impact of Choice Theory on couples, families, and the broader community in Kwara State, highlighting the benefits of adopting this approach in managing marital conflict. The findings suggest that effective application of Choice Theory principles may foster stronger, more resilient marriages and contribute to greater social harmony within the community.
