SMP Negeri 2 Kretek is located in a zone identified as having a potential tsunami inundation depth of 6-10 meters, as it lies 2.500 meters from the coastline. Student preparedness in dealing earthquakes and tsunamis is influenced by various factors, one of which is attitude. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between attitude and preparedness in dealing earthquakes and tsunamis among students of SMP Negeri 2 Kretek. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, involving a sample of 82 students. Data collection methods included an attitude questionnaire adapted from General Disaster Preparedness Belief (GDPB) and a preparedness questionnaire adapted from LIPI/UNESCO/ISDR. The results showed that the attitude level of students at SMP Negeri 2 Kretek showed an average of moderate attitude in 63 students (76.8%). The students' preparedness level predominantly demonstrated moderate preparedness in 64 students (78%). A significant relationship was found between attitude and preparedness, indicated by a significance value (p=0.000) with a correlation coefficient of 0.549, which falls into the moderate category. The school is advised to be more active in promoting earthquake and tsunami preparedness to students through training and counseling.
