<![CDATA[This study examines the social construction of Arab cultural practices as religious obligations within Indonesia’s digital dakwah ecosystem, focusing on the use of serban (turban) and jubah as symbols frequently framed as universal Islamic duties rather than contextual cultural expressions. Drawing on Berger and Luckmann’s social construction theory and Ali Mustafa Ya‘qub’s contextual hadith methodology, this qualitative study analyzes publicly available social media content and digital commentary. The primary data include TikTok posts from the accounts @mahsyar and @GHOOZIN, which present the use of serban as a prophetic sunnah, including through the circulation of a hadith attributed to al-Dailami whose authenticity remains disputed. The study identifies three interconnected stages of construction: externalization, in which literal hadith readings equate Arab cultural practices with religious obligation; objectification, in which hashtags and comment interactions institutionalize these meanings as accepted digital norms; and internalization, in which individuals absorb these norms as part of religious identity. The findings show that the core problem is epistemological: digital dakwah often lacks the methodological filters of traditional Islamic scholarship, allowing weak hadiths and decontextualized interpretations to circulate as authoritative religious knowledge.
