The palm oil processing industry faces increasing demands for efficiency, product quality, and sustainability in line with technological advancements. This study aims to examine recent technological developments in the palm oil processing industry and critically analyze their impacts on factory efficiency and sustainability. A qualitative descriptive literature review method was employed through the collection, selection, classification, and analysis of relevant scientific publications from the last ten years. The findings indicate that technologies such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based automation, Internet of Things (IoT), biomass and biogas utilization, process equipment modernization, and digitalization through Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) contribute to improved production efficiency, reduced oil losses, energy savings, and enhanced Crude Palm Oil (CPO) quality. However, the implementation of these technologies remains constrained by limited investment, inadequate human resource competencies, poor system integration, and weak managerial commitment. The study concludes that the success of modernization in the palm oil industry depends not only on technological sophistication but also on organizational readiness to integrate technology, human resources, and management practices in a sustainable manner.
