The rectum includes both intraperitoneal and extraperitoneal segments. The rectal vascularization is provided by superior rectal artery, and its venous drainage by the portal venous system and the systemic circulation. Lymphatic drainage involves multiple nodal groups, classified as regional and non-regional.
