<![CDATA[Abstract. Hyperglycemia elevates blood glucose, triggering pancreatic β-cell damage in the islets of Langerhans. Alloxan is commonly used as a diabetogenic agent due to its selective β-cell toxicity through oxidative stress. Herbal plants like bitter melon (Momordica charantia) offer an alternative therapy with proven antihyperglycemic and antioxidant effects. This study aimed to analyze the effect of bitter melon extract on pancreatic histopathology in alloxan-induced hyperglycemic mice (Mus musculus). This in vivo experimental study utilized a post-test-only control group design. Thirty male Balb/c mice were divided into five groups: negative control, positive control (alloxan induction), and three treatment groups receiving extract doses of 10.5, 21, and 42 mg/kgBW. The extract was administered orally for 14 days post-induction. Histopathological examination via Hematoxylin-Eosin staining assessed the number and diameter of Langerhans islets. Results revealed a significant difference between control and treatment groups. Bitter melon extract effectively improved the size and number of Langerhans islets, thus potentially providing a protective effect against pancreatic damage. Abstrak. Hiperglikemia merupakan kondisi peningkatan glukosa darah yang memicu kerusakan sel β pankreas pada pulau Langerhans. Aloksan umum digunakan sebagai agen diabetogenik karena toksik selektif terhadap sel β melalui stres oksidatif. Pemanfaatan tanaman herbal seperti buah pare (Momordica charantia) menjadi alternatif terapi karena terbukti memiliki efek antihiperglikemik dan antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian ekstrak buah pare terhadap gambaran histopatologis pankreas mencit (Mus musculus) model hiperglikemia diinduksi aloksan. Studi eksperimental in vivo ini menggunakan desain post test only control group. Sebanyak 30 ekor mencit jantan Balb/c dibagi menjadi lima kelompok: kontrol negatif, kontrol positif (induksi aloksan), serta tiga kelompok perlakuan dengan dosis ekstrak 10,5 mg/kgBB, 21 mg/kgBB, dan 42 mg/kgBB. Ekstrak diberikan secara oral selama 14 hari pasca-induksi. Pemeriksaan histopatologis menggunakan pewarnaan Hematoksilin-Eosin untuk menilai jumlah dan diameter pulau Langerhans. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan. Pemberian ekstrak pare terbukti efektif memperbaiki ukuran dan jumlah pulau Langerhans, sehingga berpotensi memberikan efek protektif terhadap kerusakan pankreas.]]>
