This study was motivated by the limited quality of locally manufactured hoes, which are considered insufficiently strong and hard for soil cultivation activities such as digging, clearing, and leveling land, making them less competitive than imported products. The study aimed to produce a steel hoe measuring 35 × 22 × 0.7 cm with adequate strength, hardness, and wear resistance for soil cultivation. The manufacturing process included designing the hoe, selecting AISI 1020 low-carbon steel as the raw material, conducting the forging process at a temperature of 1,150–1,250°C, applying a carburizing heat treatment at 900°C for one hour, testing the product's hardness and chemical composition, installing a wooden handle, and inspecting product quality and dimensions according to applicable standards. The results showed that the manufactured steel hoe met the requirements of SNI 0331:2018 and achieved a hardness value of 37.842 HRC. The production cost was Rp150,000.00 per unit, with a manufacturing time of approximately 120 minutes per unit.
