The purpose of this study is to clarify the degree to which inadequate planning causes building project implementation difficulties in Iraq between 2020 and 2025. It will attempt to understand the causes contributing to inadequate planning, which subsequently impact project duration and result in delays. The research population comprised specialized project management organizations and medium to large contracting organizations across all construction sectors in Iraq, including building, road construction, water and sanitation, electricity works, and infrastructure development. The research population comprised 42 project managers from project management organizations and 40 project managers from contracting organizations, both drawn from the intended market of 50 individuals in each category. The research variables were categorized into three principal variables, ten sub-variables, and forty-two measurement items. The present research's results were obtained by conducting a statistical analysis of the data. The contracting companies' inadequate comprehension of management and engineering planning concepts, insufficient recognition of time's significance, the necessity of effectively leveraging the technical and managerial benefits of planning, adherence to engineering planning principles in construction projects, a lack of understanding of the elements contributing to a plan's success, and an insufficient grasp of planning's efficacy and its impact on project success are the primary reasons for obstacles in satisfaction of engineering projects.
