The Horticultural Farmers Group in Krenceng Village, Kepung District, Kediri Regency still performs chili seed sorting manually, resulting in low production capacity, limited work efficiency, and suboptimal seed quality. This community service program aimed to implement a horticultural seed sorting machine as an appropriate technology to improve seed sorting capacity, seed quality, and farmers' knowledge and skills in seed production management. The program consisted of needs assessment, machine design and fabrication, counseling, hands-on training, demonstration, and technical assistance. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test involving 20 participants, while machine performance was assessed based on sorting capacity, processing time, seed quality, and labor productivity. The results showed that the sorting capacity increased from 8 kg/h to 30 kg/h (275%), while the processing time for 30 kg of seeds decreased from 3.75 hours to 1 hour (73.3% faster). The percentage of marketable seeds increased from 72% to 93%, seed uniformity improved from 75% to 95%, impurities decreased from 15% to 4%, and damaged seeds decreased from 8% to 2%. Participants' average knowledge score also increased from 59.2 to 93.0 (57.1%). The implementation of the seed sorting machine, supported by training and technical assistance, effectively improved sorting efficiency, seed quality, farmers' productivity, and the sustainability of local horticultural seed production.
