<![CDATA[Diabetic foot ulcers are serious complications of type 2 diabetes and are associated with neuropathy, impaired circulation, infection, disability, and risk of amputation. Family involvement may strengthen adherence to daily foot inspection, foot-care practices, and diabetic foot exercises. This literature review evaluated the effectiveness of family-based foot-care and foot-exercise education in supporting diabetic foot ulcer prevention. Google Scholar was searched for full-text Indonesian or English studies published from 2020 to 2025. Experimental and quasi-experimental studies involving patients with type 2 diabetes and family participation were selected. Of 1,270 records identified, five studies met the eligibility and methodological criteria. Four studies used pretest-posttest designs and one was a randomized controlled trial. Educational approaches included audiovisual presentations, leaflets, videos, lectures, demonstrations, and family-centered counseling delivered for seven days to four weeks. All studies reported significant improvements in patient or family knowledge and/or foot-care practice (reported p < 0.001). However, most studies measured knowledge and behavior rather than incident diabetic foot ulcers, and several were short, uncontrolled educational reports. Therefore, the evidence supports improvement in proximal prevention outcomes but is insufficient to confirm a direct reduction in ulcer incidence. Family-based education may be integrated into nursing care, provided that it includes foot inspection, safe foot care, exercise instruction, glycemic management, and referral for early foot abnormalities.]]>
