<![CDATA[The meaning of the sacred is related to holy things, religious, holiness and majesty. The sacred is closely related to houses of worship such as mosques. In its design, the exterior design is very influential in providing the first impression of the sacred value. The Keuchik Leumik Mosque was chosen as the object of research because it is one of the most beautiful mosques in Banda Aceh, so it has an interesting exterior design to study. The sacred is studied in severalaspects, namely symbolism, orientation, ornamentation, layout, color and material. In architectural design, the exterior has a formative element that will be elaborated through a concrete observation process in the field. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative method by conducting field observations, and reviewing architectural literature related to exterior design and sacred concepts. Based on the results of the study, the exterior design of the Keuchiek Leumiek Mosque has a sacred meaning in its exterior design elements. The sacred concept is found in the high dome, the typical ornamentation of Islamic architecture as a symbol and identity of a sacred and magnificent house of worship. Research that examines the sacredness of the exterior design of mosques has not been widely conducted in Aceh so that the research is expected to provide benefits to architectural science, especially in the field of architectural design towards the sacredness of worship buildings.This research can be a reference in the study of architectural semiotics (signs, symbols, and meaning) in religious buildings, and strengthen the relationship between building design and spiritual values that are considered abstract.]]>
