Abstract

ABSTRAK Air merupakan kebutuhan vital, namun pembagian biaya air di hunian indekos sering menimbulkan ketidakadilan karena keterbatasan meteran individu dan sistem pencatatan manual. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang sistem monitoring penggunaan air berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) dengan mikrokontroler ESP32 untuk mencatat konsumsi air per kamar secara akurat dan transparan. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan pendekatan eksperimen, meliputi perancangan perangkat keras, integrasi sensor aliran YF-S201, pemrograman menggunakan Arduino IDE, serta pengiriman data real-time ke Google sheets melalui WI-FI. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan sistem mampu mencatat penggunaan air secara terpisah di dua kamar dengan total 11.650,58 liter dan 3.546,47 liter selama 17 hari, dengan rata-rata error 4,7% dibandingkan meteran PDAM yang mencatat 23.000 liter dalam 30 hari. Sistem juga dapat menghitung biaya pemakaian sesuai tarif PDAM secara otomatis, sehingga meningkatkan transparansi dan mengurangi potensi konflik antar penghuni. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi sensor YF-S201 dengan ESP32 efektif untuk manajemen penggunaan air di indekos, serta berimplikasi pada efisiensi, keadilan pembagian biaya, dan potensi pengembangan sistem monitoring utilitas berbasis IoT pada skala yang lebih luas. Kata Kunci : Internet of Things (IoT), ESP32, sensor YF-S201, monitoring air, indekos ABSTRACT Water is a vital resource, yet cost-sharing in boarding houses often creates inequities due to the absence of individual meters and reliance on manual recording. This study aims to design an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system using the ESP32 microcontroller to measure water consumption per room accurately and transparently. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with an experimental approach, including hardware design, integration of YF-S201 flow sensors, programming via Arduino IDE, and real-time data transmission to Google sheets through WI-FI. The testing results demonstrated that the system successfully recorded separate water usage in two rooms, with 11,650.58 liters and 3,546.47 liters over 17 days, and achieved an average error rate of 4.7% compared to the PDAM water meter, which recorded 23,000 liters in 30 days. The system also automatically calculated water costs based on PDAM tariffs, thereby improving transparency and reducing potential conflicts among tenants. This study concludes that integrating the YF-S201 sensor with ESP32 is effective for water usage management in boarding houses, with implications for efficiency, fairness in cost allocation, and broader applications of IoT-based utility monitoring systems.
