Abstract

Graphical Abstract Highlight Research 1. 25 mg L⁻¹ AMPEP produced the highest cell density (55.96 ×10⁶ cells mL⁻¹) and growth rate (1.02 day⁻¹). 2. Low AMPEP concentration maximized biomass yield (7.13 g L⁻¹). 3. AMPEP increased total carotenoids while chlorophyll a remained unchanged. 4. Lipid accumulation peaked at 25 mg L⁻¹ AMPEP (14.81% w/w).   Abstract Chlorella sorokiniana is widely utilized in aquaculture and biotechnology due to its high nutritional value, pigment content, and lipid productivity. However, optimizing its growth and biochemical composition through environmentally friendly supplements remains an important research focus. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Acadian Marine Plant Extract Powder (AMPEP) supplementation on growth kinetics, biomass production, cell size, pigment accumulation, and lipid content of C. sorokiniana cultured in BG-11 medium. Five treatments were tested: GP-A (control, no AMPEP), GP-B (25 mg L⁻¹), GP-C (50 mg L⁻¹), GP-D (100 mg L⁻¹), and GP-E (150 mg L⁻¹). Cultures were maintained for 21 days under controlled light conditions and temperature with continuous aeration and biological replication, and growth, biomass, cell size, pigments, and lipid accumulation were measured using standard analytical methods for pigment and lipid quantification. Under controlled light and temperature conditions, AMPEP supplementation enhanced growth performance. Highest cell densities, specific growth rate, biomass, and lipid accumulation were observed in GP-B (p<0.05), while cell size and carotenoids increased significantly in AMPEP-treated groups (p<0.05). Chlorophyll a levels did not differ significantly among treatments (p>0.05). AMPEP effectively improves growth and biochemical composition of C. sorokiniana, indicating its potential as a biostimulant for microalgal cultivation. Further studies are recommended to investigate long-term cultivation responses and underlying physiological mechanisms.
