Abstract

Ciwidey's Patuha volcanic highland hosts world-class geotourism sites—Kawah Putih and Situ Patengan—that combine active volcanic processes, high-altitude lacustrine systems, and cultural significance. This study develops geotourism strategies integrating geological education with visitor experiences through interpretive frameworks, fostering both geological literacy and sustainable local economic development. Methods are site observation, literature review, and satellite imagery analysis. Kawah Putih's extremely acidic crater lake (pH <2) exhibits a characteristic whitish-green color from dissolved volcanic gases, primarily sulfur and chlorine compounds rising from subsurface magma. Situ Patengan, a mature caldera lake at 1600 masl with emergent basaltic lava exposures, represents Early Pleistocene volcanic evolution.
