This study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic self-efficacy among students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), HKBP Nommensen University Medan. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 2,715 active FKIP students, and a sample of 310 students was selected using probability sampling through a random sampling technique. Data were collected using Likert scales, namely an emotional intelligence scale developed based on Goleman's theory and an academic self-efficacy scale based on Bandura's theory. The data were analyzed using Spearman's rho correlation test. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and academic self-efficacy among FKIP students at HKBP Nommensen University Medan, with a correlation coefficient of ρ = 0.646 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The correlation coefficient indicates a strong relationship, suggesting that higher emotional intelligence is associated with higher academic self-efficacy. Furthermore, the overall levels of both emotional intelligence and academic self-efficacy were categorized as moderate. These findings indicate that emotional intelligence is one of the psychological factors associated with the development of students' academic self-efficacy. Therefore, enhancing emotional intelligence is expected to strengthen students' confidence in dealing with various academic demands and to support their academic success.
