Background: Maternal mortality remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, with inadequate knowledge and limited education among pregnant women serving as important contributing factors. Knowledge of pregnancy danger signs is essential for the early detection and prevention of maternal complications. An Android-based expert system that integrates educational content and interactive mini-games was developed to improve maternal health literacy. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of an Android-based expert system in improving pregnant women’s knowledge of early pregnancy danger sign detection and their attitudes toward antenatal care. Methods: A quasi-experimental study involving two groups was conducted. Data were analyzed using correlation tests, paired t-tests, and independent t-tests to compare changes between the intervention and control groups. Results: The findings demonstrated significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes among pregnant women following the intervention. The intervention group, which received the Android-based expert system and educational module, showed significant differences between pre-intervention and post-intervention measurements (p < 0.001). The application was more effective than the module-only approach in improving awareness of pregnancy danger signs and attitudes toward antenatal care. Conclusion: The combination of an Android-based expert system and educational modules effectively enhanced pregnant women’s knowledge of pregnancy danger signs and their attitudes toward antenatal care. This technology-based health education approach can support routine maternal health services by promoting early recognition of pregnancy complications and strengthening maternal health literacy.
