The older adult population in Indonesia continues to grow alongside increasing life expectancy, making the well-being and quality of life of older adults an important issue in developmental psychology. One psychosocial factor consistently associated with older adults' quality of life is family social support. This article aims to conceptually review the relationship between family social support and quality of life among older adults based on a review of empirical studies from Indonesia and abroad. A narrative literature review method was used, drawing on articles addressing family support, psychological well-being, and quality of life in older adults published between 2013 and 2025. The review indicates that family support whether emotional, instrumental, informational, or appraisal in form plays an important role in improving older adults' quality of life across physical, psychological, social, and environmental domains. Adequate family support contributes to successful aging and psychological well-being through mechanisms of security, self-esteem, and meaning in life, while also functioning as a buffer against stress arising from physical decline and changing social roles. This review concludes that strengthening family support should be a key strategy for improving the psychological well-being and quality of life of older adults in Indonesia.
