Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reorientation of School-Based Management (SBM) in improving the competencies of Teaching Practicum Students (PPL) at MIN 1 Banda Aceh through the strengthening of school policies, service systems, and educational quality management. This qualitative descriptive study involved the principal, vice principal, mentor teachers, PPL coordinator, and PPL students. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that SBM reorientation was implemented through policy strengthening that provided opportunities for PPL students to participate in learning activities and school management. The SBM service system was realized through mentor teacher guidance, academic supervision, intensive coordination between the madrasah and higher education institutions, and the provision of a conducive learning environment. SBM quality management contributed to the improvement of pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies of prospective teachers through continuous coaching, evaluation, and the development of a quality culture. However, challenges remain, including differences in student adaptability, limited practicum duration, and less-than-optimal stakeholder coordination. The study concludes that competency-oriented SBM reorientation strengthens the quality of PPL implementation and supports educational quality improvement in madrasah.
