This survey aims to classify the similarities in the characteristics of the Malay-Bangka community's understanding of traditional Islamic education by referring to six indicators, namely the place of teaching, teaching methods, educational curriculum, educational orientation, management, and education funding. Respondents came from various groups, including work, education, and residence. namely 293 people, used snowball technique. Data collected with questionaire that distributed via google form. Data analysis used descriptive and multivariate statistics with the non-hierarchical cluster method or K-Means cluster analysis, assisted by SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). The results of the analysis show that based on the similarity in understanding characteristics, respondents can be grouped into three clusters, namely Cluster 1 as many as 43 respondents (14.68%) with low understanding characteristics, Cluster 2 as many as 184 respondents (62.79%) with moderate understanding characteristics, and Cluster 3 as many as 66 respondents (22.53%) with high understanding characteristics. Based on these results, it appears that most respondents have a moderate understanding even though the average is still below the mean of total respondents. Thus, it is necessary to provide a systematic, comprehensive, and continuous understanding to develop human resources to form the mental and competence of students with quality and competitiveness of students and according to the needs of the world of work or users. For this reason, synergic cooperation with various related parties is needed.
