<![CDATA[Mosques have historically played an important role in the development of Islamic civilization, extending beyond their function as places of worship to become spaces for social, educational, and economic development. This study examines the role of Jogokariyan Mosque in poverty alleviation through its ZIS (Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah) programs, with particular attention to the strategies used to strengthen community economic capacity. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Jogokariyan Mosque was selected because of its sustained implementation of ZIS-based community empowerment programs. Data were obtained from mosque administrators and community members involved in and benefiting from the programs, supported by observations, documentation, and relevant literature. The findings indicate that the management of ZIS at Jogokariyan Mosque extends beyond the provision of short-term assistance. Its programs incorporate economic empowerment, business capital support, mentoring, and productive distribution of ZIS funds to encourage greater economic independence among beneficiaries. The study also finds that the mosque's role is strengthened through participatory management, responsiveness to local needs, transparent reporting, and continuous evaluation. These practices position ZIS not merely as an instrument of charitable distribution but as a mechanism for developing community economic capacity and reducing dependence on consumptive assistance. The experience of Jogokariyan Mosque demonstrates that effective mosque-based ZIS management can contribute to poverty alleviation when it is organized through participatory, productive, accountable, and sustainable approaches oriented toward improving community welfare.]]>
