<![CDATA[This study aims to explain how moral education is implemented in the upbringing of children at the As-Shohwah Orphanage, located in the city of Pekanbaru. The rationale for conducting this study is to highlight the importance of moral education in shaping children’s character, particularly for orphans and underprivileged children living in orphanages. Character education plays a role not only in moral development but also in instilling religious values, discipline, a sense of responsibility, and social awareness in the daily lives of the children in care. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and documentation at the As-Shohwah Orphanage in Pekanbaru City. The findings of this study indicate that character education is implemented through regular religious activities, the enforcement of discipline, the example set by caregivers, as well as the provision of guidance and supervision for the children. Regular activities such as congregational prayer, reciting the Quran, memorizing the Quran, daily duty shifts, and evening study sessions serve as the primary means of shaping the children’s character. Caregivers also serve as surrogate parents who provide emotional support and deep moral guidance. Although there are challenges such as differences in children’s personalities and influences from the external environment, moral education in this orphanage is considered effective in shaping the positive behavior, fostering a sense of responsibility, and developing religious values and social empathy in foster children.]]>
