Sports injuries are one of the major problems frequently experienced by athletes during training and competition. The lack of early identification of injury risk often causes athletes to experience physical disorders that may affect performance and training continuity. This study aims to analyze the importance of injury risk identification through athlete screening as a preventive effort in sports. The research used a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were collected from scientific journals, books, and relevant previous studies published between 2020–2026. The data analysis technique used content analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that athlete screening plays an important role in identifying physical limitations, muscle imbalances, flexibility disorders, and movement dysfunctions that may increase the risk of sports injuries. Screening also helps coaches and medical teams design training programs according to the athlete’s physical condition and needs. The study concludes that injury risk identification through screening can be an effective preventive strategy to reduce sports injuries and improve athlete performance in the long term.
