<![CDATA[This research is motivated by the low intensive reading skills of class VIII-B students at SMPN 17 Malang, where in the pre-cycle stage only 4 out of 31 students obtained scores above the KKM. The study aims to describe the application of intensive reading strategies assisted by video media in improving reading skills, especially interpreting poetry. The study used the Kurt Lewin model of PTK method which consists of the planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages in two cycles. The research subjects were 31 class VIII-B students at SMPN 17 Malang. The instruments used included LKPD, observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The results of the study showed an increase in class completeness from 38% in cycle I to 74% in cycle II or an increase of 36%. The increase occurred in six assessment aspects, namely understanding the content of the text, organization of the content of the text, diction, sentence structure, spelling and writing, and the meaningfulness of understanding. Furthermore, the questionnaire results showed that the use of video media received a positive response because it increased student motivation, activeness, and engagement during learning. Thus, the intensive reading strategy using video media has proven effective and feasible for implementation in Indonesian language learning, particularly in poetry.]]>
