<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of teachers, the strategies used, and the obstacles and efforts to increase reading interest among third-grade students in Indonesian language learning at State Elementary School 192 Pekanbaru. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. The subjects included third-grade teachers and third-grade students, selected purposively. The results showed that teachers play a crucial role as motivators, facilitators, and guides in increasing students' reading interest. Strategies used included promoting reading habits before class, using picture books, shared reading activities, and providing motivation. These strategies were quite effective in increasing reading interest among some students, particularly through the use of engaging media and interactive methods. However, students' reading interest generally remained moderate. Challenges faced included low student reading interest, limited facilities such as a lack of variety of reading books, and a lack of support from the family environment. To overcome these obstacles, teachers implemented various efforts, such as using engaging media, implementing varied learning methods, providing motivation, and creating a pleasant learning environment. Thus, the role and strategies of teachers have been quite effective, but they still require further development and support from various parties to optimally and sustainably increase students' reading interest.]]>
