This study aims to understand how to calculate the ideal heart rate during exercise and to determine the relationship between physical activity and changes in heart rate. The research method used was a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from various national and international journals discussing heart rate, exercise, and exercise intensity published within the last 5–10 years. The results showed that heart rate is an important indicator in determining exercise intensity and heart performance during physical activity. Maximum heart rate can be calculated using the formula 220 minus age, which is then used to determine exercise training zones. In addition, factors such as age, gender, physical fitness level, exercise intensity, and health conditions can affect a person's heart rate. Based on the journal review results, regular exercise can help improve heart health and make resting heart rate more stable. Therefore, understanding the ideal heart rate is very important so that exercise can be performed safely, effectively, and provide maximum health benefits.
