<![CDATA[The rapid development of digital technology has transformed counseling services through the increasing use of e-counseling in educational and mental health settings. However, the implementation of e-counseling in multicultural contexts presents various challenges related to communication, ethics, and counselor competencies. This study aimed to map and analyze the challenges and strategies of e-counseling in multicultural contexts. A scoping review methodology was employed based on the framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley and strengthened by the recommendations of Munn et al. The identification and selection of articles followed the PRISMA guidelines. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar and Scopus using keywords related to e-counseling, online counseling, and multicultural counseling. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 articles were selected and analyzed thematically. The findings revealed five major themes: (1) service accessibility as the primary strength of e-counseling, (2) limitations in communication and therapeutic relationships in online interactions, (3) ethical complexities related to privacy and data security, (4) the importance of counselors’ multicultural and digital competencies, and (5) the gap between service accessibility and intervention quality. The findings indicate that e-counseling has significant potential to expand access to cross-cultural mental health services. However, its effectiveness depends on counselors’ ability to integrate digital, multicultural, and relational competencies. Therefore, strengthening counselor training and developing ethical standards that are responsive to technological advancements are essential to improving the quality of e-counseling services.]]>
