The School Literacy Movement (GLS) is a program designed to improve the culture of reading and writing in schools. This study aims to describe the role of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) in character building and students' writing skills. The method used was qualitative research with a library research approach. Data was obtained from various sources, such as scientific journals, books, articles, and documents relevant to the research topic. The study results indicate that the GLS has a positive impact on student character development, particularly in fostering discipline, responsibility, curiosity, self-confidence, and creativity. Furthermore, regular literacy activities can improve students' writing skills through vocabulary mastery, sentence structure, idea development, and systematic organization. The success of the GLS program is also supported by the role of teachers, a conducive school environment, and the availability of adequate literacy resources. Thus, the GLS not only serves to improve students' academic abilities but also plays a crucial role in developing positive character and writing skills necessary to face the challenges of modern education.
