<![CDATA[Campus environmental cleanliness is an important factor in creating a healthy, comfortable, and conducive learning environment. However, waste management remains a challenge in higher education institutions due to the high volume of waste generated by academic and non-academic activities. This study aims to analyze the level of environmental awareness among students of the Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) Study Program at the University of Riau and to identify efforts to enhance students' participation in maintaining campus cleanliness. This research employed a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews with students as the primary data source. The findings reveal that cleanliness facilities within the PPKn Study Program are generally adequate, including the availability of waste bins and cleaning staff responsible for maintaining the campus environment. In addition, the PPKn Student Association has implemented several environmental programs, such as community clean-up activities, environmental campaigns, and the promotion of reusable tumblers to reduce single-use plastic waste. Despite these efforts, some students still dispose of waste improperly and show limited participation in environmental cleanliness activities. This indicates that campus cleanliness is influenced not only by the availability of facilities but also by students’ awareness, discipline, and sense of responsibility. Therefore, continuous environmental education, socialization programs, and active involvement of the academic community are necessary to strengthen environmental awareness and foster responsible behavior. Students are expected to play an active role in creating a clean, healthy, and sustainable campus environment.]]>
