<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the forms and functions of directive illocutionary speech acts in the short story collection Istri Sempurna published by Kompas in 2023. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data source was the short story collection Istri Sempurna published by Kompas in 2023, while the data consisted of utterances containing directive illocutionary speech acts. The data were collected using the reading and note-taking techniques and analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The theoretical framework used in this study refers to Ibrahim's theory of directive speech acts. The findings reveal 100 instances of directive illocutionary speech acts. Based on their forms, the data consist of 20 declarative forms, 40 imperative forms, and 40 interrogative forms. Based on their functions, the data include 9 requests, 40 questions, 15 commands, 15 prohibitions, 3 approvals, and 18 suggestions. Among these, the interrogative form and the questioning function are the most dominant. These findings indicate that the authors in the short story collection tend to employ directive speech acts in the form of questions to convey intentions, encourage responses, and build interactions among characters.]]>
