This article analyzes game-based "joyful learning" to strengthen students' numeracy skills. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology assisted by the PRISMA framework. Source materials were drawn from prior research—selected based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and subsequently analyzed through a structured process. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) articles published within the last five years (2022–2026); (2) articles indexed in Sinta; (3) articles written in Indonesian; (4) a focus on the elementary school level (SD/MI); (5) availability of the full text; and (6) origin in field research rather than literature reviews. The study demonstrates that the joyful learning approach can be implemented through traditional games (such as engklek, dakon, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, and loteng), modern games (such as board-based Monopoly), and digital media (such as Wordwall, Math Games, and Monopoly Story). Joyful learning has proven effective in helping students strengthen their understanding of numeracy concepts. Students tend to readily embrace learning that incorporates games, as they are still in a developmental stage characterized by play. Through the joyful learning approach, children can learn and play simultaneously, resulting in an educational experience that is both enjoyable and meaningful.
