<![CDATA[This research endeavors to identify and document inaccuracies in punctuation, capitalization, and lexical choices present in absence excuse letters authored by tenth-grade students at SMA Ahmad Yani 2 Baureno, Bojonegoro. A qualitative descriptive methodology was utilized, with the students' excuse letters serving as the primary data. Data acquisition involved listening, reading, and note-taking procedures, followed by a descriptive analysis referencing the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI). The results reveal various linguistic errors, including the incorrect use of periods, commas, colons, and slashes; errors in capitalization and the use of lowercase letters; and word-writing errors, particularly regarding abbreviations and compound words. These findings indicate a need to improve students' understanding of Indonesian spelling rules; consequently, more targeted instruction on writing formal letters is required to enhance the accuracy of language use in excuse letters.]]>
