The problem of this study was the low smash ability of volleyball extracurricular students at SMK N 3 Payabungan Mandailing Natal, caused by inaccurate timing, improper body positioning, and weak leg muscle explosive power. This study aimed to determine the effect of leg muscle explosive power training on volleyball smash ability. This research used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 30 extracurricular volleyball students, while the sample was 18 male students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Nurhasan smash test and analyzed using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the average pretest score of smash ability was 7.06 and increased to 12.17 in the posttest. The hypothesis test showed that tcount (14.948) was greater than ttable (1.745). Therefore, it can be concluded that leg muscle explosive power training has a significant effect on improving volleyball smash ability among students of SMK N 3 Payabungan Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra.
