Abstract

Students' learning interest is one of the important factors affecting the success of the learning process, especially in science subjects. However, classroom learning is still predominantly teacher-centered, resulting in low student engagement and learning interest. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Wordwall learning media on the learning interest of fourth-grade students in learning metamorphosis at SDN 138 Pekanbaru. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDN 138 Pekanbaru, totaling 37 students, and the sampling technique used was total sampling. Data were collected using a learning interest questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, the Paired Sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics. The results showed that the average learning interest score increased from 31.00 on the pretest to 51.92 on the posttest. The Paired Sample t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the Wordwall learning media on students' learning interest. Furthermore, the average N-Gain score was 0.7206 (72.06%), categorized as high. These findings indicate that the Wordwall learning media effectively improves students' learning interest by creating an interactive, enjoyable, and student-centered learning environment.
