<![CDATA[The teaching profession in Indonesia is currently facing the challenge of declining interest and attractiveness among the younger generation, leading some education students to view teaching as a career last resort. This study aims to examine the influence of career interest and welfare perception on the positioning of the teaching profession as a career last resort among students of the Office Administration Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang. This study employed a quantitative approach, with career interest and welfare perception as the independent variables and the positioning of the teaching profession as a career last resort as the dependent variable. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression. The study population consisted of 121 students from the 2022 cohort, with a sample of 93 respondents selected using simple random sampling. The results indicate that, partially, career interest and welfare perception do not have a significant effect on the positioning of the teaching profession as a career last resort. However, simultaneously, both variables have a significant effect on the positioning of the teaching profession as a career last resort. These findings suggest that students' decisions to regard the teaching profession as a career last resort constitute a complex process influenced by the interaction of various internal and external factors. Therefore, comprehensive efforts are needed to enhance the attractiveness of the teaching profession.]]>
