<![CDATA[This study aims to examine the symbolic meaning of the Heti Lapang (Tolak Bala) traditional ceremony practiced by the indigenous community of Pogon Village, Waigete District, Sikka Regency. A qualitative approach was employed using in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving customary leaders as the primary informants. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Heti Lapang ceremony embodies religious, social, and cultural values as an expression of gratitude, a plea for divine protection, respect for ancestors, and a means of strengthening community solidarity. The ritual also functions as an important mechanism for preserving local cultural values and reinforcing the cultural identity of the indigenous community across generations.]]>
